Sequencing

Save the Earth

Reflection: Within my scrapbook "Save the Earth", I decided to pick these two photos for my reflection because they seemed to be the most interesting. For these photos, I used a shutter speed of 250 and a f-stop of 5.6. For our sequencing my objective was to have a consistent background, so I decided to shoot near the trash can and have some buildings in the back to make it have contrast, however it didn't turn out as I expected. I wanted to focus on the piece of rolled up paper because it signified the trash that the person in photo one was throwing. If the viewer is able to see the whole scrapbook, they'll see that throwing your trash away is a necessity because it's a puts a huge impact if the trash isn't thrown into the trash can. My work was portrayed as into a figurative aspect because I believe it would be best explained in figures rather than abstract. The photos seem to have a lighter tone than the right side, I intentionally made the right side darker because the person that is helping the Earth is somewhat mysterious, I felt that making the mysterious figure would make the topic more exciting. The images I took weren't done intentionally, at first I had no idea what to do for a subject, but as I looked around the campus I saw a lot of trash, so I decided to do pollution. The images were taken outside because I wanted to display how everyday people are mindlessly throwing trash around as they please as the Earth is slowly dying by pollution. Honestly, I don't think my work was successful because the color contrasts were dull and I feel like I wasn't able to send the message out thoroughly.

The Simple Things
Reflection: Within the photo "The Simple Things", I used a shutter speed of 250 and a f-stop of 4. I decided to use this title because the simple things such as a flower is what makes life worthwhile due to its texture and beauty. This assignment that was given to me was interesting but at the same time it was hard to print due to the dark background. I decided to do a close-up because it would put a better impact on whoever is seeing this photo, nonetheless showing the flower and Mark close up made the photo a great sense of texture. The value of the picture had a lot of shadows and not that much light source. While printing, I had difficulty dodging Mark's right face, I believe his the right side of his face is still dark, but then again it's acceptable. My focal point on this photograph is the flower, I wanted to show the simplicity of life. This photo was displayed in a figurative aspect, however having an abstract form of this picture would be interesting to do. This work was done intentionally because I wanted to portray how the simple things in life is what truly matters. I believe my work was a success because I was able to capture Mark while he was posing for the camera with the flower, having the flower there is what made the photo "spark."

Photoshop Assignment

Reflection: In my Photoshop Assignment, I wanted to do something that looked fun and childish. While I was cropping and using the magnetic lasso, I had a difficulty to cut out the figure, I became frustrated about the idea. However, after taking some time, I was able to successfully portray what I wanted in the assignment. The figures that are in the background are used to re-enact some sort of game. I also used Brightness/Contrast to make the picture have a better effect. I believe that using Shadow/Highlights also put a huge impact on the picture. The best part of my assignment was using the lighting effects because I like the gleam on the waterfall, it brings out the warm colors around the background. I believe that the picture has no focal point however the red within the picture seems to attract me because of how bright it is. The space used between the characters seem to be somewhat adequate so the figures have composition. Personally, I would like to try this assignment again, even though it seemed difficult at first, I enjoyed doing this assignment because it helped me enhance my abilities on Photoshop and it was definitely a exciting experience. My photoshop assignment, I believe was a success because I was able to find out a background that was acceptable to the standards and the figures brought out the liveliness of the background.

Reflection for Yellow Boat Assignment-Child Poverty

Reflection: Within my Child Poverty Assignment, I had approximately 4 models within my photos. The objects I used were dirty such as the glass. I mostly focused on the background to create a better emphasis on the poverty the children were suffering from. The objects had to be close to show how poverty has deeply affected children worldwide. Ultimately, the children that were used in these photos had to act depressed to affect the viewers and to cause them to make an attempt to change and get rid of the poverty. The work is both figurative and abstract due to the fact that the photos were put into a figurative aspect while the 3D image put the work into an abstract art. The shapes that were portrayed in the photo was meant to be out of place to show that children that suffer from poverty are out of place with the rest of the world, like as if they were lost from the society. The tones had to be dark to create a powerful understanding for the audience. The images that were used were in focus and was actually done intentionally to show the depression of children suffering from poverty. The images were intentionally put as dark photos because it brought out the emphasis of poverty and would have made the audience understand more rather than to have a light photo. They were taken outdoors because I found it difficult to take poverty photos indoors. I believe my work was unsuccessful because I felt like I could have done better with the environment and the clothing on the children. The pictures I took as well didn't quite peek my interests.
